Death notice
April 24, 1944 - July 11, 2024 Barbara Lou LaRue, age 80, passed away on July 11, 2024, in Silverdale, Washington. Born on April 24, 1944, in Ottumwa, Iowa, Barbara (Bobbie) was known for her dynamic and loving personality, often described as a "mom to all" to those that met her. Bobbie dedicated over five decades to her career, initially as a cosmetologist before transitioning to a paraprofessional role for School District 81 in Spokane, where she retired after 32 years. She also enjoyed her time in retail, working at CJ Banks and Dress Barn, where she cherished interacting with her colleagues and customers. Her hobbies included shopping, reading, and coloring. Bobbie was an avid sports fan, passionately supporting Gonzaga basketball, Seattle Seahawks football, and Seattle Mariners baseball. She is survived by her husband, Edward LaRue; her son, Todd LaRue; her daughter, Tawney Slentz; siblings, Bill Dickerson and Glenda Scott; grandchildren, Alysia LaRue, Jordan LaRue, Ashley Grafenauer, Gabby Bassette, and Nick Slentz; and great-grandchild, Jackson Grafenauer. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Naomi Dickerson. A private Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on September 7, 2024, at the home of Michael and Tawney Slentz for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bobbie's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society or the V Foundation.
