While some seek shade under the wings of a KC-135 Stratotanker, others line up to tour a KC-46 Pegasus, the newer tanker aircraft of the Air Force at the Skyfest airshow Saturday at Fairchild Air Force Base. Though the premier demonstration team, the Thunderbirds, did not come to this year’s show, thousands of visitors got to see the F-35 fighter plane and the A-10 Thunderbolt II put through their paces, along with civilian aircraft and equipment on static display on the ground.

The Thunderbolt II, affectionately called the Warhog, is scheduled to be retired from service and is on its farewell tour.
